February Updates (We Are Expanding Again)

Alpacas!
The best thing ever happened this month. A long time dream of mine has been fulfilled. You might be thinking, "Did you win the lottery? Are you going on an exotic trip? Did Glenn give you a big diamond?" Even better. We are officially the co-owners of three alpaca males!

Welcome to the BB farm, Rembrandt, Pablo, and Michelangelo.

The Pasture

The latest property project has been building a pasture for the new goats and alpacas. I'm glad I have the "pregnancy excuse" and have not had to help digging holes. The plan is to have the fence built by the middle of March and to move the alpacas in by the end of the month.

Eggs...Lots of Eggs.

The increasing sunlight has increased egg production. We are getting 15-20 eggs daily! This is a picture of Bea, who has been broody for the past couple of weeks. She gets so irritated everyday when we steal her stash of eggs.

Hikes
We are still hiking every weekend. Last weekend Oliver dragged me out to the "golden pond" for some rock fishing.

In this photo Oliver is attempting to have "quiet time" to appreciate the sounds of nature. Quiet time usually lasts for about ten seconds.

Lotta
Our puppy is now bigger than Pumpkin. She gets along well with Pumpkin and is great on hikes. We are excited about introducing her to her "herd" in March.

Evenings at our house generally look like this:

  1. ALPACAS?!?! Get out of here! Is this in addition to the goats or instead of? And what does it mean to be "co-owner" of an alpaca? Congratulations on the ever-growing fam! I can't keep up!

  2. Alpacas are in addition to the goats. We co-own with my parents (we could not afford to purchase three alpacas!). Thanks for the congrats!

  3. OMG!!! I'm so so very excited. Must buy plane tickets....

Let me know if you want to market alpaca scarves made out of alpaca for alpacas. I smell a fun etsy venture there :)

  4. I don't know what will be a greater incentive to visit: Oliver, the alpacas, goats or your preggers belly.... Well, I guess I'll just have to find out :)

  5. Aha- I was initially envisioning a "time-shared" alpaca- your arrangement sounds much better!:). I too hope to visit soon and check out the farm!

  6. Oh, I didn't realize the added benefit of more incentive for you guys to come and visit! Might I suggest that you all come out anytime Sept-December so that you can take turns holding the baby while I sleep? Seriously, come and visit anytime.

Andrea, I like the "alpaca scarves made out of alpaca for alpacas" idea. I don't know why it hasn't been done before.
