Glenn is taking a Master Gardener program through the UC system in California. He is learning so much about seed saving, irrigation, plant disease and native species. One of Glenn's assignments is to show some flowers and vegetables at the Mid-State Fair. I thought it would be fun to make it a family affair and show some of my pictures at the fair too. Here are three shots I took yesterday for the "Nature" category.
I wanted to do a lip balm give away on my blog so here it is. Just comment or e-mail me at beneficialbee@wildblue.net and let me know if I should enter the lizard or one of butterfly pictures.
***I'm already changing my own rules. On Wednesday I will put all of your names (those who e-mail or comment) into a "hat" and pick one. That way everyone will have an equal chance! The winner will receive two lip balm scents of their choice.
They are all pretty, but I like the lizard the best. Thought I'd start off the comments, knowing I'm only no. 1...the one time being no. 1 is not a good thing ;-)
ReplyDeleteI agree. They are all pretty. I like the second one. I think it is a moth. I found a similar one here... I think it looks cool with all of the "eyes" looking at you. Plus the background is colorful. I love the butterfly, but the background is drab. The lizard is pretty too.... But again, I like the "eyes". :0)
ReplyDeleteThe lizard is my favorite one!
ReplyDeleteWow!! Great Pics. The Lizard is striking but for some reason I am drawn to the Middle pic of the brown butterfly. I really like that one. I guess it's because the overall picture is a khaki color and there are tiny explosions of yellows, orange and black that break the tone. And it's interesting from the view down the butterfly fits in perfectly with the enviroment. Great Pics!!!
ReplyDeleteThere are some great pictures. Good color, but I have to say, I think "butterfly" pictures are a dime a dozen.
ReplyDeleteThe lizard is unique and has nice composition.
But all the pictures are great.
Doug
I'm already a fan of your lip balm, use it everyday ! I'd love to have more :)
ReplyDeleteMy pick is the first butterfly picture, as I love how it is balancing on the grass. It conveys the light airy behavior that butterflies have.
Find me at http://crochetbouquet.etsy.com
The lizard is my pick - very haughty looking !
ReplyDeleteI'd love to sample your lip balm. I'm a lip balm junkie and always have a tube of it on me.
ReplyDeleteThe orchards are in full bloom right now and my cousins hired a beekeeper to place hives all over. There are dozens of hives all over the place right now. I walked through one of the orchards yesterday to look at the hives and was mesmerized. I just knelt down near one and watched the bees. They buzzed all around and one even hit me in the head but for the most part they just ignored me. I was smitten! I could even smell the honey inside the hives. Oh the temptation to get a hive of my own!
P.S. I got sidetracked by telling you about the bee hives...I meant to say that I would enter the Buckeye photo, since I'm from Ohio!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Amy for winning the lip balm. Your name was pulled! Thank you to everyone for your great feedback. ~Jess
ReplyDeleteI'm envious of your husband being able to take the Master Gardening Program. The classes here are only available in the morning and that is when I work.
ReplyDeleteHurray for me! I never win anything! I would love to try your "Winter" and "Spring" flavors. I will email my address to you.
